Models with a "U" as the 4th character are 800 MHz units and WILL NOT work on 33cm amateur. If the 4th character is a "W", it'll work on 33cm regardless. Clueless sellers on eBay often site the model # in the listing, but you're only interested in the ID#. Tip: When looking for a 900 MHz radio, look for a "W" as the 4th character in the ID#. These radios are great performers on 33cm and can be found for cheap on eBay.
